Photograph the complete visible PVC bundle with controlled light, keep individual pipe ends sharp, run the count, and review the markers before using the quantity.
Why PVC needs a slightly different photo
White or light plastic can produce bright highlights while the inside of each pipe appears much darker. If exposure is extreme, some edges become less distinct even though the bundle looks clear to the eye.
Recommended PVC counting workflow
- Keep the bundle fully inside the frame.
- Avoid direct glare where possible.
- Use an angle that shows the pipe openings clearly.
- Run Pipe Counter and inspect the marked result.
- Check outer-corner pipes and heavily shadowed openings.
- Use manual add/remove tools for corrections.
- Save the verified count or export the required report.
Common PVC problem areas
Pay extra attention to nested-looking shadows, partly covered outer pipes, cropped corners, reflective plastic straps and pipes that sit deeper than their neighbours.
Good operational use cases
PVC counting can be useful for plumbing wholesalers, building-material distributors, warehouses, manufacturers, receiving teams and dispatch checks where bundle ends are accessible to the camera.
Accuracy and review
Image-based counting depends on what is visible in the photograph. Lighting, perspective, crop, occlusion, material appearance and image quality can affect detection. Review the marked result and use manual correction before relying on a count for an operational decision.
